A Silver Lake studio by newcomers, Pirate, is becoming a popular hangout amongst LA’s most exciting rising artists and international collaborators.
Erick the Architect, City of the Sun, AKTHESAVIOR, blackwave., AIMMIA, IDMAN, Disco Shrine, and MiTCH all use the Sunset Boulevard haven.
The Silver Lake location has 6 band rehearsal rooms, 9 private DJ studios, 11 recording studios, and 2 podcast studios, as well as a communal area for breaks between sessions.
Pirate Silver Lake opened in 2021, along with a New York location, marking the UK-based company's expansion into the US.

Pirate’s Silver Lake studio on Sunset is becoming a popular hangout for the most exciting music acts in Los Angeles. A haven for hip hop heavyweights, Erick the Architect and AKTHESAVIOR use the space to collaborate. Not just a rapper's club, AIMMIA, the groundbreaking house music DJ/producer, soulful alternative R&B artist IDMAN, and the multidisciplinary talent Disco Shrine are all part of this vibrant musical community. New York rock band, City of the Sun, and Belgian hip hop duo blackwave. have also been known to stop by when in town.

One-third of Flatbush Zombies, one of New York's most revered hip hop groups, and a formidable versatile solo artist, Erick the Architect, now resides in Los Angeles, where he initiated a chain reaction by introducing fellow NYC-turned-LA-based rapper, AKTHESAVIOR, to Pirate Silver Lake. AK has gone on to link up with other artist friends, including blackwave., the well-known Belgian hip hop duo, whose latest project is aptly titled 'no sleep in LA', at Pirate Silver Lake.

I discovered Pirate through an artist friend of mine, Erick the Architect. We had a couple rehearsals there getting ready for our upcoming shows at the time and it was a blast... Recently I pulled up to Pirate studios to do a session with some artist homies of mine, blackwave., that were in town from Belgium. They pulled up, we instantly vibed out and we got a good song out of that session.

IDMAN's debut EP 'Risk' dropped this year to rave reviews, cementing the R&B innovator as one to watch. Having recently supported Sampa the Great, IDMAN notes that a lot of her time in the studio had been spent preparing for that, before teasing something in the works.

I was practicing at Pirate for my first time opening up on a tour. I did the West Coast leg of Sampa the Great's 'As Above, So Below' tour this year. It was freaking awesome. Currently, I’m working on something super top secret.

At the helm of the Los Angeles electronic music scene, you'll find DJ/producer AIMMIA. You'll also find her at Pirate Silver Lake, going live on Instagram from the private DJ studios or with her head down in the music production rooms. AIMMIA's debut track 'Group Therapy' arrived just last month, building anticipation for more releases later this year.

The fact that Pirate is 24/7 is unbeatable! As artists, our creativity sparks at random times, especially at night, so you know you’ll always have a studio to go to.

The studio complex features 6 band rehearsal rooms, 9 private DJ studios, 11 fully-equipped recording studio, and 2 dedicated podcast studios, empowering artists with the tools they need to bring their artistic visions to life.

I discovered Pirate in the spring of last year. I was getting ready to go on tour with Sizzy Rocket, and we had our rehearsals at Pirate. I fell in love instantly. Being a musician, producer, performer, singer and DJ, I really appreciate that it's a multipurpose space.

Maybe even more importantly than the facilities, Pirate's studio fosters a sense of community and camaraderie. The communal area acts as a nexus where artists can connect and unwind. The combination of 24-hour accessibility, easy-to-use facilities, and community-focused energy has firmly established Pirate's Silver Lake studio as a second home for emerging talents.

As a New York native, being based in Los Angeles has opened a lot of doors that wouldn’t be open back home. Through living in LA and also, in part, thanks to studios like Pirate, I’ve been able to meet people from all walks and creeds who are insanely talented and open to collaborations, building pivotal relations that remain solid outside of music.
